The internet is filled with makeup tricks and tips, and for every one there is, there are many more beauty myths that leave you wondering and trying desperately to avoid it. And more than being questionably true and factually correct, you’ll find that many of these claims are plain bizarre and essentially just bad beauty and hygiene practices. Makeup myths have been making people rethink about their products and make us feel certain products are bad for us. Because chances are, you’ve probably heard more than a few of these, but the bucks stop here.
THESE 5 BEAUTY MYTHS ARE A THING OF THE PAST!
1. YOU DON’T HAVE TO WASH YOUR BRUSHES IF ONLY YOU USE THEM
Umm, hell NO! Anyone who loves beauty and make up knows that brushes are the holy grail of your vanity because your face IS the canvas. You wouldn’t apply the same coloured brush twice to a canvas, right? Because by that understanding, you wouldn’t not wash your clothes after sharing them too! Make up brushes come into contact with a great number of products and surfaces. The longer you keep reusing them and avoid washing them, the more bacteria accumulates in their fibers. This can not only lead to skin diseases but can also reduce your brushes’ shelf life. So we recommend washing them weekly and banishing bad makeup habits and baseless beauty myths!
2. RED DOES NOT SUIT EVERYONE
Say it with us – Red ? is ? for ? every ? skin ? tone. Red-iculous doesn’t even begin to cover this particular winner in the arena of beauty myths. You just need to find your shade of red by checking an undertone of the lipstick and see which suits you better. Because most definitely, they all do! (We ♥️ Dimple)

3. EXPENSIVE MAKE UP IS BETTER
One rule of thumb to understand is that you don’t always get what you pay for and sometimes, research really helps. Because odds are, a lot of times, affordable options will be work as well for you as an expensive product. Many times you’ll find the ingredients to be more or less the same and in similar shades like those in pricier selections. So break these stupid makeup myths for yourself and buy something that you think will be non-harmful for your skin.
4. SUNSCREEN IS ONLY NECESSARY WHEN IT’S SUNNY
We can’t stress enough how false this is. Sunscreen is an absolute essential no matter what time of day. Even if it’s cloudy, you must wear your suncreen. It is extremely important to guard your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays, so always use a good sunscreen lotion. We recommend this.
5. MAKE UP CAUSES BREAKOUTS
Oh, if we had a penny for every time we heard such beauty myths and built our growing empire with it! Like we said, most myths are born out of nothing but bad beauty hygiene. Makeup is not always the main culprit behind those nasty breakouts and bad acne! A lot of the times, you’ll find it to be a result of a bad make-up routine. Sleeping with your makeup on, using out-dated products and not using clean brushes and sponges to apply makeup are factors to consider. Removing makeup is essential for the long-term health of your skin and will keep you looking fresh-faced and flawless every morning
